Soooo I bought a GTR

Sold my Tesla and bought a GTR. It’s been modified, has a terrible wrap on it, but it’s still every bit a beast. From preliminary investigations it has quality mods on it and is wa y faster than stock. I’m having a shop tomorrow go over the mods and I will be getting an idea of what it’s capable of.

Will be daily driven, in all weather, If it breaks it get fixed and driven till I see 200k miles on the odometer (currently has 60k). Biggest cons so far: The horrible wrap, which will need to be changed (still haven’t decided on a color). No bluetooth streaming audio, drone from the exhaust is tiring, and the constant attention needs to end. Almost had someone pull into my lane trying to take pictures. I kinda blame it on the wrap. But other than that, it’s been every bit of the car I thought it would be.

Finally need suggestions on custom plates. I know they’re tacky but............I will make an exception. And no, I don’t want any of 1000 versions of godzilla or v8 lol. I want something fresh and different.

Congrats! I Turo’d one for a few days once and while not exactly my cup of a tea from a theoretical ownership perspective, I could definitely appreciate how downright bonkers of a car it was (even being a stock early model year example) . Kudos for being willing to run it daily.

Call it Takumi.

The engines are hand built by only four specially trained mechanics called “Takumi Craftsmens” on a special line at Nissan’s Yokohama plant and their names are badged on every GT -R engine. The cars are built at their Tochigi plant on a shared production line.

Congrats and enjoy. My Evo has 185k on it. You should be able to get 200k out of the GT-R. Just maintain it as you described above.

Yeah I’m aware of the GTR master craftsmen. Wanna know a fun fact, early model year GTR’s didn’t come with a plate stating the name of their takumi’s. It’s later GTR that came with those plaques on the front of the engine. I don’t know which Takumi built mine

Yes, Bonkers is an apt description. From the smells, to the crazily unrefined dual clutch, to the seats designed for slender Japanese bodies, not American blocks of human meat , to the speedo that has 120 MPH where 60 is on normal vehicles etc.

It is a crazy vehicle and im somewhat of a masochist, so it will get daily driven with the occasional track day in between.

I have a post about it, I had a Model S 85, I absolutely loved and enjoyed my experience with mine. It was one of the highest mileage Tesla’s in the country. I will definitely own another someday.

But the R35 GTR, Gallardo, Murcielago and TVR Sagaris all happen to be my true dream cars. Sure, there are new versions out now and newer versions coming soon but those 4 are my original dream cars. I m ade a promise to myself to buy one this year. Ended up being the GTR and I am not disappointed. I will own the others soon. But one step at a time.

Jealous. I was a 2 hour drive from becoming a GT-R owner. Long story short it was a complete series of events that I took as god telling me not to sell my M3 and buy a GT-R.

This was 2-3 years ago, I was in the market for a 2010-12 model.

That wrap is comparatively tame. What color is it underneath? Oddly enough white looks really good on these and it would get less attention that way.

I mean if you saw some parts of the wrap up close, it’s bad but the iridescent purple is growing on me. Problem is, i t’s overdone and not in a good way, but in a I wanna wrap my rocket bunny FRS kinda way. Seen two with the same wrap in my neighborhood and would you guess it, one was a rocket bunny.

It’s boring silver underneath. I would love a white because the black wheels and some black accents would set it off. But the color I really wanted was blue, like the 50th anniversary blue.

Now here’s someone with a color I agree with. Blue is like the top choice of wraps for me right now. I was thinking the 50th anniversary blue. So you and me agree on that one.

I have the original plate on my 240Z or I would have HENKA as my plate, I’ve been a sumo fan since I lived in Japan , a henka is a legal but naughty move to win at the start of the match , sort of a cheat. What color is it under the wrap? I like them in the stock white the have actually. I saw these cars in the Yokohama headquarters showroom when they first put them on display. They are cool cars, I just prefer to get high off the petrol fumes that leak unto my cabin from the carbs.

Purple is such a traditional (and awesome) colo r for R32-34  GTRs that I’m surprised it wasn’t a stock one for the R35. Or was it, and yours just isn’t?

I’m not sure about HENKA, but I would have BANKAI “full release” as mine but the problem is, my puny FBO GTR isn’t the full release. You would need a 2000 hp GTR for that. Also I dont think 90% of the population would even get it.

Well anything in Japanese would go over most people’s heads, and the obvious ones are lame. I think my other idea was hayate, which means divine wind, they had a WWII plane named that. People will just google it haha. 

We had this guy named Aminishiki and he was so good at henkas we actually liked it when he did it. This is him pulling one off on the best of all time, Hakuho.

He was a henka magician, loved that guy. That sure pissed off Hakuho, who can be a jerk, so I enjoyed it. I don’t think I’ll get another Japanese classic since I have too many vehicles as it is, you might as well use my list. I found some real 1950s plates for my Dodge M37 which should be cool. The truck was used in the Korean War so I think I might have something in Korean painted on it, they did sometimes have war art on them. And I am not paying for vanity plates on my daily driver Acura wagon.
